Who is María Cecilia Botero

Maria Cecilia Botero is a Colombian actress, presenter, and journalist. She was born on May 13, 1955, in Medellin, Antioquia. She was the daughter of Jaime Botero Gómez, a teacher. She was not the only child of her parents, she had three other siblings. They are  Ana Cristina Botero, Óscar Botero, Jaime Botero. Her siblings Óscar Botero and Ana Cristina Botero are also actors

Being an actress was not her first profession. Before she become an actress, Botero was an anthropologist.  studied at the Venice District Educational Institution. Sobrina de Dora Cadavid debuted in 1971 with Carlos Benjumea, Maruja Toro, Enrique Pontón, and Franky Linero in the film El ghost de Canterville.

Mariela Hijuelos, who died during the recording of La Voragine(1975), was replaced by Botero. She was María Candia in La Pezuña del Diablo (1983), Yadira La Ardiente in Old Horse (1988) and Sándalo Daza in Maestro Music (1990). 

Her Acting Career.

Maria Cecilia Botero made her acting debut 42 years ago in the film Mara, which she co-starred in with Fernando Allende. Mara Cecilia Botero has handled the passage of time with professionalism, dignity, and power, establishing herself as one of Colombia’s most popular entertainers.

In 1971, he made his first appearance on television in The Canterville Ghost. Lunes de Comedia, La Vorágine, Caminos de Gloria, Lejos del Nido, Los Novios, La Pezua del Diablo, La Rosa de los Vientos, Dos Mujeres, and Ama la Academia are just a few of the productions in which she has appeared. Perhaps Maria Cecilia Botero’s most remembered characters are Yadira la Ardiente, from the telenovela Caballo viejo , and Sándalo Daza, from Música maestro. 

In 2005, she was cast in the RCN Television soap Lorena, in which she performed her first antagonistic role, as the villainous Rufina de Ferrero, in which she significantly transformed her appearance and demonstrated her remarkable dramatic ability. Her dream of popularizing musical theater in Colombia led her to perform productions as important as Peter Pan , Sugar and La Mujer del Año .

Parallel to her career as a telenovela actress, María Cecilia produced and starred in several musical comedies directed by her husband, the Argentine David Stivel. María Cecilia Botero and her husband, Argentine David Stivel got married in 1982.

How did the couples meet and started their beautiful relationship? The couple has not discussed or given any public account of the circumstances that lead to their path crossing and they eventually got married. However, their marriage was blessed with two children. They are  Mateo Stivelberg and Mateo Stivel. Unfortunately María Cecilia Botero’s husband passed away.

The restless and versatile artist also made a name for herself as the host of the talk shows Maria C, Contigo, and Las Tardes de Maria C, as well as the presenter of Noticieros CM& and de las 7. Mara Cecilia has not forgotten her calling as a teacher, and she is the director of the Charlot Academy, which was founded by her father, Jaime Botero.

Together with Catalina Gómez and Agmeth Escaf, he hosted the Caracol Televisión channel’s program Da a Da.

In 2021, she performed the Spanish vocals of Abuela Alma in the Disney film Encanto, alongside performers such as John Leguizamo, Angie Cepeda, and Carolina Gaitán, among 11 others.
